Josh Pugen

I have a master’s degree in social work and a paralegal diploma and over 16 years of experience as a helping professional. I have training in conflict resolution, cognitive behavioural therapy, mediation, divorce financial analysis and strategic intervention coaching. I have extensive experience as an expert consultant on legal matters related to personal injury, disability, and mental health.

I have represented numerous individuals at the social security tribunal and have worked with individuals and families as an assessor, mediator and therapist. I also have over 10 years of accounting experience working on personal income tax accounts of clients to maximize their benefits.

My interest in mediation is very personal as I have experience working with both mediators and lawyers during the divorce process I went through. I learned how easy it is to waste thousands of dollars on legal fees that get little to nothing done, aside from increasing bitterness on both sides. Through mediation, I experienced the value of collaboration, problem-solving and unifying goals. All this is at a fraction of the cost of the theatrical and adversarial family law process.

When I’m not working, I’m often at home with my blended family, and wife and we each have three kids totalling six. On my time off I enjoy long-distance cycling, tennis and playing piano or guitar. I look forward to working with you and it’s an honour to be able to facilitate collaborative relationships that focus on mutual respect and shared goals to enhance family dynamics and well-being.
